Biography

Gianna Paola Cuneo lives and paints in Rome, where she was born, and where she returned after having lived in Belgium, United States, England.

She graduated, very young, at the "Art Institute Of Chicago" in fine arts, figure drawing and painting. After her return to Italy, she participated in the "Premio Michetti" exhibitions and was awarded in 1950 and 1951.

In that period, in Rome, she met Benedetta Marinetti, wife of the famous futurist poet, and Christian Zervos, art historian and leading art critic in Paris of Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Juan Gris, Fernand Leger, etc. Editor of the "Cahiers d'Art". He was a very important encounter for pursuing painting at the most serious level.

Christian Zervos presented Gianna Paola Cuneo for a personal exhibition at the "Galleria Del Pincio", March 1952. In that gallery shows of the artist of the Italian Neo-Realist Group: Guttuso, Pizzinato, Zigaina, Attardi and others.

G.P. Cuneo was part of that new epic neo-realist wave, that influenced also literature and cinema, but in a more personal lyrical way.

Exhibitions of G.P.Cuneo took place in New York, London, Zurich, Rome, Milan. She directed for many years "Le Bateleur" Gallery in Rome, an unusual place, known for being one of the most original faces of cultural Rome.

Other personal exhibitions:
Pescara, Capraia and recently in 2004 the publication of her book of poems "La Musa del Transatlantico" editions "Il Gabbiano"
Exhibition at the "Gabbiano Gallery" of Messina, and presentation of the book, with poems also in french and english.
In 2005 exhibition at the Fondazione Mazzullo, Palazzo Duchi Di Santo Stefano - Taormina
